Feast and Famine. Scientific American323(3), 23. The article focuses on the Intermittent fasting (IF) is an umbrella term for various meal timing schedules that cycle between voluntary fasting and non-fasting over a given period. Topics include IF is a veritable fountain of youth, lowering body weight, and cholesterol levels; and IF can be effective ways to lose weight, control blood sugar and lower blood pressure.  COMMENT BY A UWG STUDENT:   I recommend this article for those who wish to maintain healthy blood sugar through diet. It focuses on Intermittent fasting and the positive effects it can have on cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood sugar.

 

  • Williams, C. (2017). Targeted Blood-Sugar ControlLife Extension, 25–32.    The article offers information on several natural substances that promote blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity. Topics discussed include the problem of insulin resistance in the body, the benefits of cinnamon in reducing blood sugar and preventing type 2 diabetes, and the control of blood sugar levels through chromium.   COMMENT BY A UWG STUDENT:   I recommend this article because it offers information surrounding several natural substances that promote blood sugar control.

  • Essential Health  "Four steps can help naturally balance blood sugars" (April 24, 2019).  This is a page provided by a hospital system.  Comment by a UWG Student: This website targets specifically those who have diabetes and need some help with gaining better habits to control their blood sugar levels in a 4 step process, one of which involves diet.

This blog was reviewed for accuracy by an RDN associated with the parent site.  Comment by a UWG Student:  Here we have a link that has a list of some of the best foods to help with your blood sugar, whether its high or low they have the food listed for what you need to help maintain it.
