The Ingram Library offers in-person and online research help through a variety of means. Choose the one that best meets your research need:
Stop by the Library's Main Desk during library hours where a staff person can either answer your question or refer you to a librarian with the more specialized research skills that may be required. This is good if you are asking questions about your library account, asking where something is located, or if you don't know how much help you need. Our library staff can point you in the right direction of the resources you need or to refer you to a librarian or another office.
Request a Research Consultation. This is good when you have a research question and you have a bit of time. When you request a Research Consultation, a librarian will email you to schedule a mutually-workable time. These appointments can be face-to-face, online, or over the phone.
Contact the librarian listed on your discipline's Research Guide or by looking at this list of Subject Librarians. This is essentially the same thing as requesting a Research Consultation but instead of sending it to a list of all the librarians, you are contacting a specific librarian. Like a Research Consultation, this is for when you have some time before your assignment is due because the librarian might not get back in touch with you the same day.
Use our chat service, Library Help Live ! 24/7. This service will connect you to a librarian from UWG or from another library at any time of the day or night. UWG library is usually online during regular business hours; overnight, on the weekends, and on holidays you will be connected to other librarians from somewhere in the United States or the United Kingdom. Since you might be connected to a librarian from another library, this is not the best service to use to ask questions about your individual account. Library Help Live! 24/7 is for when you need help finding an article, knowing how to cite a source, or getting started with your research. You'll get immediate help that is not as in-depth as a Research Consultation.
UWG librarians also create subject-specific Research Guides for each field or discipline and Course Guides for some specific classes.
To access Subject Guides from the UWG Library website click on Research Guides and type in the name of the department or major. You can also click Research Guides and then Browse All Guides.
