Finding Books

All the books at Ingram Library are listed in our online catalog. This includes print and ebooks.

In the Catalog, you'll also find the videos that we own.

If you don't find what you need there, you can try one of the other 35 libraries in the Georgia state system through the GIL Universal Catalog.

And if that's not enough, you can search WorldCat to see what is available at other libraries. We'll try to get what you need through ILL. (Since WorldCat is a subscription database, you'll need to log-in with your Westga information or find the GALILEO password on CourseDen to access it.)

If you live in GA, your UWG student ID will allow you to check out books from any of the University System of Georgia institutions.

Tips and tricks for searching for children's books at UWG

  • You can search for books by title, author, or subject
  • When you do your initial search narrow your results by 'location' on the left side of the screen and choose any of the 'juvenile collection' options.
  • Sometimes your best option is to search for books using booklists (award winners, new releases, book reviews) or the internet (Google, Amazon) and then look in our library catalog to see if we have it at UWG or if we can request it from another library using GIL Express or Interlibrary Loan
  • If you are in Ingram Library, you can browse the juvenile collection on the 3rd floor of the library in the 'Y" section
  • You can try search terms for common types of children's books including 'picture books'; 'nursery rhymes'; 'counting books'; and 'alphabet books' (remember to narrow to 'juvenile collection' as needed)
  • You can also do a broad search for 'children's books'; 'children's stories'; and 'children's poetry' and narrow using the options on the left side of the screen.
