A guide to searching and accessing physics materials through Ingram Library

Welcome

This guide will assist you in finding and accessing physics materials in Ingram Library. Use the left tabs to navigate to different types of resources.  I recommend beginning your physics research in the following databases:

Open Access Scholarly Journals

Open Access Scholarly Articles

Physics has a tradition of supporting open access journals and materials.  Some journals may be completely free to access; others may allow scientists to upload pre-prints or first drafts onto shared databases like those below.  Researchers should carefully examine these resources to determine if they have gone through peer-review or come from a reputable journal.

  • Directory of Open Access Journals.  Tens of thousands of journals available for free, including Institute of Physics journals
  • arXiv.org Funded by Cornell University and the National Science Foundation, the archive facilitates access to over 400,000 physics e-prints, pre-prints, and manuscripts.

Request a Research Consultation

Having trouble getting started?  Reached a dead end?  UWG students and faculty can request an individual research consultation for help with finding resources, accessing materials, using sources, developing searches, and utilizing the library's services.

Schedule a research consultation with a librarian.
