Finding Books

All the books, videos, and other materials at Ingram Library are listed in our online catalog. Select UWG Catalog to search the items we have here, or Worldcat to search worldwide listings. To find materials in the University System of Georgia catalog, do a UWG Catalog search, and then select University System of Georgia in the drop down box at the top of the results page.

Primo Search

If you live in GA, your UWG student ID will allow you to check out books from any of the University System of Georgia institutions.

Helpful Definitions

UWG GIL Catalog: Database you can search for books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, etc. owned by the UWG library.  Includes some electronic materials, but is mostly focused on print items. GIL is the acronym for ‘GALILEO Interconnected Libraries

GIL Express: An ILL (see below) system that is part of the GIL catalog system, which allows users to place their own requests to have materials from University System of Georgia libraries delivered to their home library.

Inter Library Loan (ILL): Inter Library Loan is a general term for any system of sharing between libraries.  At Ingram (UWG Library) the ILL department assists library users with getting access to materials that the user can not access on their own.

GIL University System Catalog (aka Universal Catalog): Database you can search for books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, etc. (mostly physical) owned by libraries throughout the University System of Georgia. Every library has a database (aka GIL catalog) of its own collection, for example, at the University of West Georgia we have the ‘UWG GIL Catalog’.  The GIL Universal Catalog is created by combining all the individual catalogs into one, this allows you search for materials beyond your campus library.

GALILEO: Stands for GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online. This portal gives you access to multiple databases. To use GALILEO you must have permission to access it, which is provided through your library.
