LibraryDen

This is a guide about the online information literacy course, LibraryDen, created by Anne Barnhart and Ingram Library

Information for UWG Students

How do I use LibraryDen?

If you are UWG student enrolled in LibraryDen, there are orientation videos to help you navigate the course site. This video is also linked in the LibraryDen course under "Start Here"

How much time is LibraryDen going to take me?

Based on our student testers, LibraryDen will take you 5-6 hours total to finish the entire course. This is assuming you read the information once and take each quiz once. If you re-read information and re-take quizzes, you will spend a little longer.  If you are assigned this for a class, you do not want to wait until the night it's due to complete it. You want to break it into smaller chunks so you aren't reading on a screen for 6 hours!

What if I've already done LibraryDen?

If you are enrolled in a course using LibraryDen and you have already completed it in a previous course, you do not have to redo the entire LibraryDen course. LibraryDen is designed so you can skip the linked readings and self-assessments if you have already done them. You would still need to complete the survey ("A little about you"), the pre-test ("What do you already know?"), all eight module-level quizzes, and the final assessment ("What do you know now?").  This refresher will probably take you 30-45 minutes to complete. You can also talk with your professor and show them your completion summary from when you completed LibraryDen and ask them how they would like you to proceed.

How can I make suggestions for LibraryDen?

There is an anonymous evaluation in LibraryDen in the Final Assessment module for you to give feedback. You can also contact Anne Barnhart (barnhart@westga) directly with suggestions. As you can see from the Spring 2021 video, we listen carefully to student feedback and try to be as responsive as we can. Like all courses, LibraryDen is evolving and we are continually tweaking its content.

How can I work on LibraryDen as a student employee?

Check Career Services each semester to see if Ingram Library has any job openings. LibraryDen is coordinated out of the Outreach & Assessment department in Ingram Library so look for our postings if you're interested.
