Creating Permalinks to Library Resources

What is a Permalink?

A permalink or persistent link is a stable URL to a library resource.  It's benefits include:

  • Will not break or change, so can be used semester to semester
  • Can be shared via websites, email, or Courseden
  • Works for on or off campus students

Where do I find a Permalink?

Many of our databases include the ability to create sharable links.  Our most common databases are listed below. Your librarians can also help you get sharable permalinks for library resources.

EBSCO

The following works for the Discover All Search on our library homepage, electronic books from eBook Collection at EBSCOhost, and major indexes in EBSCO like CINAHL, MEDLINE, psycINFO, and more.

If you have an item in an EBSCO database that you want to share:

1. Click the Article Title.

2. Click the Share Button on the top right of the page.

3. Click Create Link, then Copy to Clipboard.

Proquest Article Databases

If you have an item in an Proquest database that you want to share:

1. Click the Article Title.

2. Click Copy URL from the top menu.

Proquest Ebook Central

If you want to share an eBook from Proquest Ebook Central:

1. Go to the book's title page and click Share Link to Book.

2. Press Control C to copy the link.

JSTOR

If you want to share an item from JSTOR:

1. Click the Item's Title.

2. Click the JSTOR link under the citation information.

Note: Students will need to click the red box Log in through your school or library and search for University of West Georgia to access it.
