Ingram Library Behavior Standards
Ingram library facilities, collections, and services are curated to support teaching and learning, showcase scholarship, and reflect the distinct characteristics of the University of West Georgia. These standards should be followed by all library users in order to foster a welcoming and safe environment in Ingram Library.
- Library materials and facilities should be treated respectfully in order to preserve them for future users
- Materials should not be damaged or defaced.
- When eating or drinking, small spills should be cleaned and large spills should be reported to library staff. All waste should be discarded in garbage bins.
- Materials and equipment may not be removed from the library without permission.
- Patron behavior must not negatively impact the experience of other library users or library employees.
- Noise limits should be followed on library premises.
- Personal boundaries of all individuals should be respected on library premises.
- University students should follow the University of West Georgia’s Code of Conduct, available in the Student Handbook.
- Library users will follow direction of any library employee while inside the library building.
- Events are allowed only with library approval. Events can include: hosted talks, drop-in tables, classes, etc. Events do not include: solicitation, marketing, peddling.
- Posters and advertisements can be hung in designated areas as long as they are either sponsored by a university department or have been approved by the Center for Student Involvement.
- Service animals are permitted in the library. Emotional support animals and pets are not permitted in the library.
- Tobacco use is not permitted in the library or on campus. This includes smoking cigarettes/cigars, chewing tobacco, and use of e-cigarettes..
- All library users and employees must observe policies and laws established by the University of West Georgia and the State of Georgia.
This list is exhaustive but not exclusive. Responsive action will be taken that corresponds to the severity of the transgression.
