She’ll be talking about her brand-new book, In a League of Her Own, the inspiring story of Effa Manley—a Harlem woman who became the business manager of a Negro Leagues baseball team in the 1930s.
Effa had to hold her own in a world that didn’t want her there—facing shady contracts, dealing with superstar Satchel Paige, and proving that she could lead the Newark Eagles all the way to the 1946 championship.
We’ll have a number of free copies of the book for students at the event.
Stay tuned—more details about time and location are coming soon!
