General Search Tips

When searching some of the online databases, it is helpful to build a search string using Boolean Operators. OR broadens your search while AND narrows it, limiting your results to where the concepts intersect.

Pantyhose OR stockings will get you results in which either term is used

Pantyhose AND stockings will get you results in which both terms are used

You can combine these terms as well like this:
pantyhose OR stockings
AND
garter*

Here the * gives alternate endings (garter, garters...). Most databases use the * for this, but the library catalog uses a ?.
