At Ingram Library we are always happy to help you get what you need for your research and coursework, whether items are in our own collection or beyond.
Ingram Library also participates in a state-wide courier service, known as GIL Express, which allows items to be requested from other public university/college libraries in the University System of Georgia (USG).
Resource Sharing (interlibrary loan, document delivery and distance learning services), is a service that will help you obtain an item you need that isn't held in our physical/ print collection or in our full-text online collection. We will borrow items from other libraries on your behalf. We scan print materials (articles, microfilm, book chapters, etc.) from our own collection within the confines of copyright and load them to users' ILLiad accounts.
There are the two ways to borrow items:
GIL Express is used by students, faculty and staff and emeritus faculty to borrow print books from other libraries in the USG for delivery to UWG's main campus Ingram library. Distance students can opt to use GIL to request books and have them delivered to a convenient campus library for pick up. They may also request items through our Resource Sharing office and have items delivered to their chosen address.
ILLiad is used for:
If Ingram Library or other USG libraries do not own the items you need, we can request them from another library through Resource Sharing. If an item is available through GIL Express, please try that service first (unless you are a distance student and would like your items mailed to you).
NOTE: If you are a main campus student and request through ILLiad a print book for delivery to the main campus that is available through GIL Express, that request may be cancelled and you may be asked to resubmit your request through the GIL System (unless you are a student at one of our instructional sites or online).
Online and off-campus instructional site students have two options. If the library owns the item, we will supply it to you and include a postage-paid return label. If UWG does not own the item, we will request it from another library through interlibrary loan and send it to you.
UWG faculty, staff, and students may request copies of articles and chapters from books (including reference materials) owned by Ingram Library through ILLiad.
