Searching for Books

  • GIL-Find
GIL-Find is the way to search the library catalog. It allows you to more easily adjust your searches, find similar resources, and keep track of previous searches. Use the "Universal Catalog" link to search other libraries in the University System of Georgia and request books through GIL Express.
  • Interlibrary Loan
If you want a book or article that we don't have in Ingram library you can request it through InterLibrary Loan (ILL). Click here for more information and to set up an ILL account.

General Search Tips

When searching some of the online databases, it is helpful to build a search string using Boolean Operators. OR broadens your search while AND narrows it, limiting your results to where the concepts intersect.

Pantyhose OR stockings will get you results in which either term is used

Pantyhose AND stockings will get you results in which both terms are used

You can combine these terms as well like this:
pantyhose OR stockings

Here the * gives alternate endings (garter, garters...). Most databases use the * for this, but the library catalog uses a ?.
