PsycINFO, American Psychological Association's (APA) resource for abstracts of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations. The database also includes information about the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, and pharmacology.
As a Psychology student, you will probably use the PsycINFO database on a regular basis.
Full-text vs Citations - What's the difference? A citation is information about an article or research study - title, where and when it was published, an abstract that summarizes the article. It may or may not include access to the article, such as a PDF or an html file.
If the full text is not available in PsycInfo, look for a link to check for full text in other databases.
When the button is working right, that currently looks like this:
This will link you to a tool that searches all of our subscription resources for access to the full text of that article.
If none of the databases we have access to has the article and we don't have the print version of our journal in our collection, then you can use ILL to get it. Most ILL article requests can be filled within a day or two, but can take up to a week, so make sure you leave some time in your research schedule for this possibility.
Since PsycINFO also contains citations for books, you may see a link to the library catalog. In that case, if we own it, the book is located in Ingram Library's collection. If we do not own it, you can search the GIL Universal catalog to see if it is available in another USG library. If so, you can use GIL Express to have the book delivered to Ingram Library. If not, you may put in a request through ILL.
To recap the steps you will need to take to access the full text when PsycInfo does not have it as a pdf:
